Drmoul lies close to Mariánské Lázně. In 2025, the municipality had around 1,000 residents. Since 2020, the I/21 bypass has diverted traffic away from the village centre.

The first written mention of the municipality dates from 1479. The Church of St Joseph, more accurately a chapel, was built in 1924 as a memorial to the victims of the First World War. The 55-metre-high Panská rozhledna lookout tower stands on Panský vrch west of the village and offers views in every direction. The mineral springs Panská, Štolní and Svatovítská kyselka are accessible nearby.
